  • Jordan | Headshots

The other week I ran out with Jordan to take some headshots since he needed them for some projects that he is working on.  We went down to Jack London Square in Oakland since it provides a few different options for backgrounds while shooting.  Although, we learned not to linger on the tracks too long as we got detained by the Union Pacific Police telling us we could not be there.  The Policeman was cool over all but made it pretty clear that it was “Illegal” to shoot on the tracks without clearance.  Some small consolation was he told us we at least picked wisely a spot in terms of not getting run over by a train.  So all you photographers take note, look before you shoot and shoot fast and get out of there.  =)  In any case here are a few shots from the day.

  • Open Wide

It is so funny to see my youngest daughter because she is quite a bit different than my first.  My oldest daughter was always petite; I think the highest she ever got was like 5% on that sort of mysterious scale they use for rating babies.  On the other hand my second is well over the 50% mark.  In fact if memory serves she is 95% in height!  Pretty good for a little Asian girl huh?  Well because she is so much larger she is now able to try solids sooner than my oldest daughter.  So this morning we gave her a first try.  Of course it is always an event, at least for us parents and maybe the baby since they usually have this “What is this stuff you are trying to cram in my mouth” look.  Well it was no disappointment.  Here are a couple of shots of the big moment.

Funny I guess this happens to us throughout life, as we often have this same reaction to things when we first encounter them even if it is good for us and in our better interest.  Well I guess it shows we have to stay open and give things a second try because who knows it might be the beginning of some great things.  Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

  • Family Time At Cal

I know that I have not been very good about keeping up on my blog but with children being sick, children not sleeping, and my office being torn apart due to a remodeling project, I have been really thrown off in trying to get stuff done.  Kiddies are recovering so things are getting a little back to normal.  Now if I could only get my office back.  In any case I thought I would try and toss up a quick post.

A few weeks ago I got a chance to go out with my friend Virginia and her family to take some shots.  I knew Virginia back when she was up at Cal and although it has been a few years she looks virtually the same.  I am sure there are a few wear marks here and there since she has three energetic children but if so I can’t see any.  In any case Virginia among other things makes some pretty cool jewelry that she often custom makes for brides and bridesmaids.  So we did a little of that barter thing and she made my wife a great set with a pendant, bracelet, and earrings (I will try and get some pics of those up sometime when I have time).  And in return I got to run around with them for an afternoon around Cal and shoot a few pictures.  I think I got the better end of the deal.  =)

Well thanks Virginia, my wife totally loves her jewelry.  Here is a shot of them from the day.  Hope everyone is doing well and hopefully things will get back to normal for me soon.  Crossing my fingers.

  • Good Bye Halloween

Well another halloween has come and gone.  I can't say that I am the biggest fan or the crazy about the whole thing but this year I was sort of looking forward to it as this was really the first year that my oldest daughter could really participate and enjoy the experience since she is now 2 yrs 8 mos old.  So we were going to go trick or treating with some of our friends and their son out at the mall.  Also her pre-school has a gathering on Sunday as well that looks to be a lot of fun.  But last night in the middle of the night she woke up and was crying.  My wife went in to see what was the matter and noted that she seemed hot.  So she took her temperature and sure enough she had a fever.  My heart sort of sunk right there since I knew that probably meant that we could not take her out to do any of those things.  I felt sad for her and I must say I was a bit disappointed too since I was looking forward to doing those things with her and the family.  Well in the end we still were all together and  I am sure there are many to come but still wish she could have gone out to experience all those things.  Here is a picture from today.  She is not wearing her costume as she did not want to put it on.  Hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween.

  • Overcast But Not Gloomy 2 (The Slideshow) | Yvonne & Lou's E-Session

I first met Lou way back when we were both in college.Throughout the years I would occasionally run into him and we would have some brief exchanges but nothing too substantial, many times it would just be seeing him as I was driving or he was driving and I would yell Loooooooooouis… And he would reply with a “What’s up Eric”.Well a few years ago we reconnected through some mutual friends and we became better friends. For the last couple of years though he has been pretty busy running his restaurant Noodle Theory. There are two locations one in the Rockridge Area in Oakland the other in Cow Hollow in San Francisco. If you are ever in the mood for some good noodles and other things that are associated with them check them out.

Well, a couple of years ago Lou was cooking a dinner at our place for some friends. So he comes over a bit early and there is this girl with him.My wife and I are both thinking who is this?We of course were in the dark since Lou had neglected to share the information that he was dating anyone.Well of course that mystery girl turned out to be Yvonne.  Although it was a surprise it was a nice surprise.Yvonne is just the sweetest girl and cute as can be, but what is more important is it really seems like her and Lou want the same things in life.

So in a typical Bay Area weather pattern the week had been sunny and beautiful but of course when we went out for their E-Session it was foggy and overcast.Figures huh?Well undeterred we headed out to see what we could find.I think in the end we came up with some good stuff and shots that had a different look from the traditional images.Well I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next year…it should be one very nice party, especially due to their love of good food.Congratulations to Yvonne & Lou!

  • Hilary & Arin's SF Celebration

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Hilary & Arin in regards to covering a banquet that they were having to locally celebrate their marriage and also Hilary's Parent's 40th Wedding Anniversary.  All our contact until Sunday had been over e-mail or Facebook, so it was great to finally meet them and their family.  Everyone was so friendly that I felt right at home with them from the get go.  Well congrats to Hilary & Arin.  Thanks also to Ellis and Wing for coming out to help me out.  Here are a couple shots from the day.

  • Overcast But Not Gloomy | Yvonne & Lou's E-Session (Preview)

Last weekend I went out with my friends Yvonne & Lou to shoot their E-session.  I had corresponded with Yvonne a couple of times over e-mail and we had come up with a couple ideas of things we might want to explore while out and about.  All week the weather was great but of course on Saturday it was suddenly foggy and overcast.  Well there went the ideas we were thinking of since they had some to do with a sunset.  Obviously at that point it was "What sunset??"  Well not to be deterred we set out determined to see what we could do.

At the end of the day I think we got some stuff that was great because of the weather.  Besides Yvonne and Lou are such a funny couple we just had to get something good.  The thing I found funny is that Yvonne was all worried that she does not look good in pictures.  Silly girl!  I'll let you all look and judge for yourselves.  I personally think she looks great.

Well here are a few shots.  I'll get more up later as I get a chance to work on them.  Hope everyone has a great week.

  • A Day On The Farm | A Family Time

I met Eric long ago through some friends and at one point we even played on a softball team together.  That seems like so long ago now since we are both married and both have 2 little girls.  Well the other week I had the opportunity to go out with Eric, his wife Agnes and their two very cute and very active...did I mention active...little girls.  They wanted some family shots so we took some time and went out to the "Farm" (Stanford University for those of you that don't know that reference).  As much as it pains me to say it (I'm a Cal grad) the campus is beautiful and nice place to walk around and shoot.  It was an especially nice time since we got to catch up a bit since with our busy lives I really never get to see them.  So all in all we had a great time. Here are a few shots from the day.  Hope everyone is well and having a good week.

  • Amy & Tim Get Married | Mini Tease

This past Saturday I had the pleasure of photographing Amy & Tim's Wedding.  I had actually never met either of them face to face since we put this all together pretty fast and mostly over e-mail.  Actually, even with that all the contact was with Amy.  Well through that little contact I had a sense that Amy was a nice person.  So the day of I finally got to meet them both and well....Amy is not nice...her and Tim are really nice.  They made us feel welcome and known right off the bat.  Needless to say it was just a pleasure to spend the day with them.  Here are a few shots from the day.

Congratulations Amy & Tim!  May the Lord truly bless you and your marriage.
