  • Family Time | Los Altos, Menlo Park Family Photography

The other weekend I had a little change of pace and shot some family sessions. It is always nice to spend time with some very nice families. I shot with the Kim's and Chang's last year so it was nice to hook up with them again. The Nobunaga's I know since I used to go to the same church with Dean & Alyssa. We have not actually seen each other for a few years so definitely it was great to see them.

Why is it such a change of pace? Well first off we did not have a full schedule as is usually the case when shooting a wedding and lets see...by the end of the day I had shot 9 little ones all with very different temperaments. Some a bit challenging to shoot but all very fun.

Thanks to each family it was great to see everyone and share a piece of your weekend. Also thanks to Jason and Michelle for coming out to lend a hand.

I have now known Wayne for many years now and really when it comes down to it the best way I can describe him is that he is really a good guy.He does a ton of volunteer work and befriends many people most of us would not have the patience to take a second look at.And yet you find out he used to DJ and break dance so it is hard to stereotype him into any particular category. Therefore, I have to just say he is a great guy.

I have not known Connie for as long but I have known her for a few years too.She is also one of those really great people. And she is just totally good natured and funny. So when I heard that the two of them were dating I though, “Wow, that is pretty cool!”Obviously, when they got engaged it was even more thrilling and when they asked me to record their special day it was a tremendous honor.

The day started at the classic and beautiful Fairmont Hotel, where Connie got ready and Wayne came to meet her.St Johns Church in San Francisco, with its beautiful stained glass, was the backdrop for their ceremony. Then the events were topped off with a traditional Chinese banquet at Gold Mountain over in San Francisco Chinatown. As with most wedding days it was a whirlwind. But the thing I most remember is how happy Wayne and Connie were to be marrying one another, that and Connie’s very infectious laughter.Congratulations to Connie & Wayne, may the Lord continue to bless the two of you and your life together.

The other month I had the privilege of being part of Patricia & Robert’s Wedding Day.  When we went out for their Engagement Session they were so much fun that I could not help but look forward to seeing them again at the wedding.  Patricia was gorgeous and Robert was pretty dapper himself.  To add to it their venue was Alexandra’s Ballroom on the Imperial Floor of the Westin St. Francis on Union Square.  When I got married that was one of my favorite venues we looked at.  In any case here is a little preview, more to come later.

  • Aimee's Adventures | SF Family Lifestyle Photography

    Aimee-120 v2b.jpg

I met Aimee through a referral from my good friend Connie.  If I remember the story correctly Connie was speaking to Aimee about photos.  Aimee expressed that she wanted to go out with her family and take some pictures but the photographer she liked moved away and she probably had to see when they might come to the area to schedule something.  Well Connie says to her “Oh yeah! You should check out my guy!”  (I love Connie…ha ha ha)  Well Aimee checks out my stuff and decides she needs to book something.  I love Aimee too.  =)

The funny thing is Aimee and I talk the first time and we really connect.  You know sometimes you just click with some folks.  So our big joke is that we are BFF’s.  Well after working some details out we finally got to go out and shoot.  Aimee and her family were so crazy and fun that I probably should have paid them.

Thanks to Aimee for being a great client but more so it is even better to have a new BFF.  Here are a few shots from our time together.

  • Coming Attractions | Wedding Photography Preview

Things have been so hectic lately that I am sorry that I have not really been posting anything.  Just a little of what has been going on.  Aside from some other stuff I just covered 4 weddings in the last 4 weeks.  Yes, I am trying to catch up on all my editing.  So can't write too much but here is a little preview of my last month and what is coming.  It has been a busy time but all my couples have been great and I have loved working with each of them.  Congratulations to each and everyone of them.

When we had our first meeting I was taken by how nice Laura and Brian were. We had a great time and ended up talking and laughing for quite awhile. So needless to say I was looking forward to going out with them to shoot their e-session. Sadly my Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and passed a few days before we were supposed to shoot their session. They of course were very understanding when I first mentioned to them that we probably needed to reschedule. But after a couple of days of taking care of my father’s affairs, it was just getting to be too much for me. So in a gesture of even greater understanding they agreed to go ahead and go out as scheduled to shoot their session. As I suspected they were so gracious and funny that it was a great way for me to get my mind off of all the heavy stuff. It was truly a therapeutic time for me! So really I can’t say enough nice things about them. I look forward to their wedding, I am sure it will be a great celebration filled with love and laughter. Here is a slideshow of our adventures around Mill Valley and Tiburon.

Okay, as I mentioned in an earlier post Patricia & Robert were so much fun to work with. We had a beautiful day and seriously we were all over the place. I found it funny because Rob was feeling left out and he felt he did not matter because I did not direct him very much but the truth was and I told him later it was because I would think about what I might want him to be doing and often when I looked at him he kind of would be doing it already so I didn't need to give him much direction. Well this was totally a fun session and I can't wait to shoot their wedding later in the summer. Plus an added bonus is that they are getting married and having their reception in my favorite venue when my wife and I were looking for our wedding. Unfortunately, due to different factors we could not be there but it was okay since we were quite satisfied with where we ended up. Hope everyone had a great 4th. Here is Patricia & Robert's Slideshow (click the image to see the show). Stay tuned, I think their wedding will be fantabulous!!!

  • Yvonne & Lou | Healdsburg Wedding | Preview

My friends Louis & Yvonne were married Sunday.  It was a beautiful ceremony and reception at the Healdsburg Country Garden up in Sonoma and I was completely honored to be allowed to record it for them.  For some, you might recognize Lou as the owner and operator of Noodle Theory, stop in sometime and visit as they have some tasty dishes.  Here are a few shots from the day I’ll get more up later but for now here is a little peek.

  • Patricia & Robert | San Francisco Engagement Session Preview

Just the other day I finally got to go out with Patricia & Robert to shoot their E-Session.  We had scheduled before but fell victim to this years crazy rainy weather.  Well this time the weather was beautiful and Patricia & Robert were seriously fun to work with, so if you can’t do the math, I'll tell you that means the day was awesome!  I give props to Patricia who managed to trek all over wearing some pretty impressive heels…and run in them too!  Thanks go out to Brian Lee, who came along to assist me.  Here is a little preview from the day, more to follow.

  • A Fringe Benefit

Yesterday I had the opportunity to take a quick jaunt down to LA and shoot a family session with my friends Mark & Stacie.  I actually met Mark many years ago when he was up in the Bay Area and we attended the same church.  I met Stacie separately at a JEMS retreat one summer when all of us were single and carefree.  So it was pretty cool when Stacie and Mark hooked up.  I still remember their wedding as it was one of the most memorable and hilarious weddings I have ever attended.  Well we are all in a much different place now being married and with or respective little ones, sadly we don't see each other much now days.  So when they contacted me to take portraits of them and Mark's family I jumped at the chance since it meant that I would get to see them and spend some time hanging out with them.  Well I can say for me it was a great day catching up and getting to know Mark's family as well.  I hope our families will get a chance to spend more time together in the future.  Here is a shot I took of Stacie & Mark.  Here's your fifteen minutes of fame I promised you Stace.  =)
